Australia Dylan Ricci

Dylan Ricci restores the male nude to its rightful place in the world of fine art photography by recapturing the purity and formality pioneered by Imogen Cunningham, Edward Weston and other master photographers of the 1920’s and 30’s. Ricci’s images are stylish, classic with a sense of timeless beauty often lacking in contemporary male nude photography. While studying sculpture in Florence, Ricci came to believe that the male body, at its physical peak, is the most pure and beautiful form of art. In his quest to escape the often cliched depictions of male nudes in contemporary fine art photography, Dylan discards the swords, Roman pillars, unmade beds and other paraphernalia to capture the purity, sensuality and sculptural beauty of the male body. He concentrates on lighting, shadow and composition to lift his beautiful men from the two dimensional world of the photographic image to create images of the male nude that are timeless and which capture the true beauty, power and majesty of the male body. In addition to being published in a number of international art magazines and fine art photography books, Ricci’s male nude photographs are held in galleries and private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Dylan Ricci was born in Rome in 1966 and moved to Australia with his family at the age of seven. He currently divides his time between Asia and Europe.

Australia Gerhardt Thompson

“Australia is such a unique country. Thousands of miles of pristine beaches, spectacular river ways, its bush lands and vast empty expanses, wherever you look there is something you will only see in Australia. I was born here and have lived most of my life along the east coast of New South Wales. Australia is an outdoor lifestyle that you just have to indulge. What else can you do! Are you starting to see why I don’t photograph in a studio yet? Well it is not simply that it has been done so many times or in so many ways before, it is more that it could have been taken anywhere in the world. The ever changing and unique Australian landscape is the perfect backdrop for a Fine Art Nude photographic session whether it is on a beach, a river bank, rocky outcrops or a bush land setting. The nude in my opinion is so beautiful, particularly in the natural environment and many of the curves and lines of the model are found and repeated in nature. It is the harmony and/or often the contrast of the two I try to find and blend into one. I am very conscious of the textures and it is very evident in my work …some have called it my trademark and that which makes my work somewhat unique. The end result is something quite unique that cannot be recreated elsewhere. Even the light is different. The intensity of the Australian sun is second to nowhere and creates its own special magic that while absolutely beautiful, is also a challenge to capture and harness in this type of photography. Many try but very few successfully harness and capture the beauty it provides.“

Australia John de Lombardo

For over 15 years John de Lombardo has been passionately creating organic, beautiful and sometimes confrontational photography that exposes the intrigue of the human body. With a creative eye, John prefers to photograph 'real' models, finding them far more interesting and challenging. Using a myriad of strong characters, unusual looking people, performers, contortionists and unusual body parts his photography exposes the incredible beauty, flexibility and quirkiness of the human form. Johns' photography varies in style from shots of particularly well cut men and woman in extremely flexible poses where one can get lost in the line and shape of the body as well as marvel at the extremity of the pose to weird and wonky toes to the beautifully erotic. Always working in the moment John embraces the more emotional, confrontational side of his work with passion and wisdom. Directing his models with clarity and sensibility John captures them in their truth and depth, revealing a window into the human experience not often seen. "My intention is to not only stimulate the eye but also the mind" John de Lombardo. Originally from Sydney then based in Melbourne John now works from Byron Bay.
